So what is CPM? Good question, CPM is one of a group of companies that include Chesapeake Plastics Manufacturing, CPM Fastools and of course CPM. Chesapeake Plastics is an award winning injection molding company. CPM Fastools is a rapid tooling and proto type company that utilizes the latest in manufacturing technology, recipient of the SBA Small business of the year award 2006 for the state of Maryland. CPM is the retail arm of both companies, utilizing the resources of both parent companies to produce a product designed, manufactured and marketed in the USA. To start, it may be best to describe what CPM is NOT. We are not trying to develop the lightest weight rod systems or film components. Nor are we trying to design the strongest video camera support system. What we are trying to do is to match both light weight and strength to meet the needs of the growing videography market. The first thing a consumer does when dealing with videography is to purchase the best camera that meets their needs. Before long the need to accessorize the cameras sees the inclusion of LCD screens, as cameras get small and smaller so do the on camera view finders and LCD screens. To help get that perfect shot videographers are adding external LCD screens to help set up those amazing shots. The next item added might be an XLR adapter. The ability to use professional audio gear can make the difference between a true film and a backyard production. Next on the list is a 35mm adapter, static or dynamic it does not matter. The desire is to match the look and texture of film means the use of an adapter and the requisite lenses. To help support the last item a follow focus is added to help adjust the newly added lens and adapters. Last a matte box. The addition of these much needed accessories has resulted in one negative, weight. The current market has provided a solution to help support most of these accessories in the form of rods or rail systems. Mostly in the form of two rods with assorted clamps and brackets. What CPM has done is to add a second set of rods totaling 4 rods and with these rods the needed connectors and mount points. These 4 rods form a cage around the camera accomplishing two important items; 1) Protection of the camera and 2) Multiple accessory mount points while increasing the strength of the system. CPM has designed, from the ground up, a system of Carbon Fiber rods in combination with carbon filled polycarbonate components in what we believe fills the need of light weight and added strength. We are pleased to offer the quad cage in several sizes and configurations. Also a light weight body cam system and a composite geared head round out the first group of products to be released.
